This is my first time posting and I hope I'm not intervening where I shouldn't but DonnaB has her hoops set up for a coldframe at this point. When Spring gets here, she will put clear film on for a GH. And, NO, the light/heat cannot get through the white plastic. That is the point; to keep the plants in dormancy until which time she wishes them to "come alive," then they will put clear plastic on. Hopefully they are using GH film and not just "clear poly" because clear poly is milky and useless for growing plants. They need the full light spectrum to develop properly.

I get my film from http://www.MDplantsandsupplies.com in Baltimore. They are also in Richmond, VA. A 20' x 100' roll is about $123.00 and it is good for 4 years. It will last longer, but after 4 years in the sun, it will start turning milky and must be changed. I haven't built a GH yet because we bought a house and moved and I couldn't build one where we were, on a hillside.

I have been doing loads of reading and studying on this. I am one of Mike McGroarty's http://www.freeplants.com "graduates" and I am excited about what I've learned in the past 2 years coming to fruit, soon. We've planted lots of bulbs for overwintering and I hope they make it through. They are in pots on the North side of my 20' x 28' workshop. Grape hyacinth, tulips, jonquils, etc.
