I used to have a nice floating water lily fountain in a large dish planter on the tree stump in the center of my back yard. It was solar operated and recycled the existing water so did not require any plumbing or electric. It was easy to take down & store for the winter. Because it did not have a filter on the floating lily pad, it would get clogged and I had to constantly clean it. I was looking for another type of fountain to use in the dish, when DSO dropped it while bringing it up out of the basement. It broke in 2 and was not usable. When Teri posted the photo of her charming Bird's nest fountain, I realized how much I missed my fountain & decided to look for another. This summer I found an incredible buy ($30) on a small concrete fountain. I was able to locate a solar powered pump and filter for it on Ebay ($20). I have been thinking about where it should be placed as it needs sunlight to work. It's been sitting outside most of the summer and now I will pack it away until next year. I don't think that it is the right shape to sit on my tree stump, but maybe it would be depending on what I might plant around the stump. Here's the photo: It's about 24" tall and 16" around. It comes apart in 2 sections to refill it and have access to the pump. |
