If you really want waterlilies, try one or two and see how it goes. You may want to pick up a couple of inexpensive ones from Walmart before putting any real money into the waterlilies. I have both koi and waterlilies and every year, I have a nice display of waterlily flowers from May to October. I also have 21 pots of waterlilies, so I may not be noticing what could be eaten by the koi. Before you put your waterlilies into the water, make sure the top of the waterlily pot is covered with egg rock. The egg rock tends to be too big for the koi to pick up and spit out.
