cheerpeople wrote: I read here last year about someone who soaks her orchids in Sevin before bringing them inside. I thought that was brilliant and as I'm infested, well not me but my plants, with spider mights every winter. I tried soaking via excessive spraying every plant in sevin a few times over a few days. Last year was the best year I've had with less bugs. I also am tending to put the bug problem ones in the basement dormant and the less buggy types in the house. I have used bayer systemic in my pots ( intended for roses) but I've still had the occasional worm etc survive all winter ( 7 months!) in a pot.I guess that is because they don't eat the plant so they don't die from the poison. Worms are ok anyway. Pest free plants for me include orange green plant (chlorophytum) , scented geranium, and oxalis ( I like purple) and giant bird of paradise, a pink flowered type of iceplant, string of hearts and string of pearls. Dont have the link memorized but I have a houseplant album in my photobucket album- look for cheerpeople there. There's some helpful info here- think I'll add it to my blog here. |
