We were there the beginning of October? Or was it November? Anyhow, the whale tours had ended the week before, I was so disappointed. There was only one place still open, they look for whales and then radio in, and you have to be able to go right away. It was sort of expensive and I didn't want to take a chance on not being able to go, so I didn't sign up.... didn't you know they went out and saw a big pod, arrgh.
But I walked all over town, and we had rented a little car in Vancouver and took it over on the ferry, so I drove all up and down the island. Buchart was open but I was advised just about everything was dormant for the winter. I found some great beaches on the east coast and we found some nice parks with HUGE!!! trees on the west coast.
I don't travel a great deal so it was a huge thrill for me.
