We have a very nice young Linden 'Redmond' in front of the house, and I would like to try to start a couple from seed. Since I've never started a tree or shrub from seed, I have a lot of questions. First, should I even bother? PlantFiles says it will not come true, but if it's another Linden I guess that would be ok. Most of the "whirlygigs" have dried up and blown off, but there are many left with tiny green fruit. Do I leave the fruit on til it "ripens", and how do I know when that is? Would winter sowing be a good idea?
