Second try was to do what Teresa did with the camellias - put it in a bowl. I bought this bowl years ago when I was inspired to do some ikebana arrangements. I never got the hang of it, and never used the bowl, but I love the greenish glazing with a splash of maroon. Added some fronds of leatherleaf fern to the edges. I only picked the one flower this time. With the smaller blooms from the lateral shoots, I may be able to make an arrangement with multiple blooms. If anyone else out there has these large dahlias, I would love to see how you use them.
