The best of the 2 situations was the washed out pic (below), but the color is much deeper to they eye than this pic translates. I never could get a decent pic of the combo, but they were striking with Dizzy and 'David' Phlox. Now I have them planted in front of a Mock Orange, but I plan to move them to a position with a light background in hopes of making the color pop.
