August is a lull month in the garden here. Not much to write about anyway. Nothing pretty, fun or exciting happening. Lately, work is mostly a matter of moving soil from a Point A to a Point B. Digging out the side of a slope to create a covered parking area for the garden equipment. We take the excavated soil to the wheelchair garden area for leveling. Also, a long established flower bed is being moved. There just wasn’t sufficient room to maneuver a wheelchair between two of the beds. Kay isn’t about to bury her carefully nurtured garden soil beneath a layer of concrete surfacing so she is moving the top foot of soil, as well as the plants. I have discovered a new appreciation for verbena. Not too many flowers bloom in the August heat so its exuberance is a treat. |
