They've taken most of that out. As our friends that live in Whitehorse say, it's just a real highway now. We didn't have any trouble at all until about 6 hours from home in Cache Creek. They were doing some chip sealing, and I got a crick in the wind shield. Previously on that drive I lost a windshield, had a flat tire, and when we got to Whitehorse, the truck was so dirty you couldn't tell what colour it was. I was disappointed that I barely got the truck dirty at all. The wildlife around Liard was amazing. There had been a big forest fire through there in June, so much of the wildlife was out by the road to feed. We saw only 2 moose, I wanted a photo of them for Bullwinkle but didn't get it. We saw lots of Caribou, a herd of Bison along with 10 calfs, 29 bears that included mostly black, a few brown, one grizzly crossed the road ahead of us so we gave it lots of room. We also was a mom black bear with her 2 small cubs feeding in the grass about 60feet from the road. We all slowed, but no one stopped. I was also so reminded about the huge amounts of sunlight during the summer. At the summer solstice in Whitehorse the sun is up about 4:15 and sets about 23:45 We got home and the sun set just before 9., it was a hard adjustment. this photo is of Lake Labarge |
