Meredith79 wrote: Thanks, The second photo has my absolute fave Karley Rose grass in the background. Those aren't new but I had to mention them because they are one of my favorite plants in my whole yard. : ) The new area consists of - Annual Lion's Head which are the tallest plants furthest away. They aren't blooming yet but should be any day now. Then there are African Foxgloves which have just started opening - there are only about two flowers now but soon they should be fabulous. Mixed amongst those are Annual Beebalm - the lemon scented ones. I'll have to look those up in my journal for the name because it's escaping me for some reason. There are also a lot of Kniphofia I grew from seed but not sure how they will work out due to them being a borderline hardy and most likely they won't bloom this year. Last but not least Bubblegum Agastache - A.cana. Those should bloom this year but if they survive winter - they will be much more impressive next year. I am always trying things from seed that might not be hardy. I figure if they don't work out I am only out a few dollars instead of much more if I had purchased full grown plants. :) The third pic probably doesn't show everything I am growing. There are Hollyhocks, Agastache foeniculum, 3 kinds of tomatoes, cukes, Scarlet runner beans A bunch of different lilies, stargazers tom pouce, easter lily, lollipop lillies, Chianti lillies, etc. etc. - those are giving a wonderful fragrance in the yard when the breeze blows the scent. If it wasn't for that they'd all be in the trash after constantly fighting a losing battle with Lily Beetles. In the front where nothing is filled in are a lot of newly acquired daylilies which are just temporary. Also are my Zinnias and Sulphur Cosmos that were planted a month too late but I'm hoping will give me at least some flowers for my dd to pick because she loves Zinnias and calls them pretty colored dandelions! Lol : ) Can't forget my Snapdragons that seem to be taking way too long to bloom, Red Lupines for next year and some Kingsize Scarlet Larkspur that have begun to flower with Hot pink flowers! lol Oops can't forget the Sunflowers my daughter planted the seeds of up front and center! I had thought they were pumpkin plants for a while and was wondering why they were growing so unusual compared to the others that are there. My dd is also responsible for the pumpkins. She found and old pumpkin in spring that was dried up and had seeds rattling inside. She figured out a way to crack it open and plant them before I even knew what was going on! Now this might not sound too impressive but she was 4 at the time (she recently turned 5) and needs me to help her with pretty much everything so this was a big deal to me. : ) She is too cute and I keep telling her I am going to make her her own garden. Unfortunately it hasn't happened yet so she is sharing mine this year. :) Here's a pic of the first African Foxglove to open. I'll be sure to post new ones when more flowers bloom. |
