Insect and Spider Identification: Trying to identify small brown house bug, 1 by swnyc

About a month ago I started seeing these small brown bugs sporadically on or around my bed, usually at night and often when I was playing with my iPod. They seem to fly, be attracted to light and water (I left a cup of water out for a couple of days and it attracted about 10 of them), and I can't figure out where in the apartment they are coming from.

We are in midtown NYC.

Any ideas what these little buggies are and how we can shoo them away?
