Phoebes, I have had a lot of practice shooting a camera and I still have troubles!! Though, with the new camera I just got myself for my birthday (next week) will help a lot, I bet!!!

The problem here is the contrast it too deep. A dark, dark flower with a bright, bright background makes the camera's automatic metering programs go bonkers.

Most of the shots of the Dahlia 'Arabian Knights' came out like this one .... not like the one I posted above.

All those blossoms, Celeste!! Oh, what I would give to have that much room
