Some people like her most people see her as a weed but she soon lulls everyone with her charm. Calystegia hederacea is usually considered a weed, this one is invasive and get's her tendrils everywhere and sometimes I am tempted just to rip her tendrils off as she can get a bit of a strangle hold. She is an old false bindweed that I had a friend send me from Japan, he said that she is over 70 years old and has been growing in his grandmothers garden. She is so old but looks new and young. Calystegia hederacea flore pleno is the double version, this version is unique in that the flowers are either single or semi double and sets seeds. So every morning I wake up and I am greeted by this asagao (Japanese for morning face) It's unique in that it is known as "Ni (pronounce as nee Japanese for two) and "Asagao" (pronounce Ah-say-go) because every morning you wake up and see two faces, a sight to behold you will want to bow down in Japanese fashion and worship her. I will send a photo of the plant with it's two faces as it is just coming into bloom. A|t first I was going to call it "Split Personality" however there is a double ipomoea purpurea by that name. |
