redchic01 wrote: So, this is my current project. just to touch on the problems in this part of the yard, this is a brief run down of why it's a real pain: 1) the fool that put in the sprinkler system didn't put the lines in deep in enough. They range from 1" deep to 6". You know how easy it is to break a line that shallow with a shovel?? very. I've unknowingly tested pipes tencile strength many times. 2) the fool put all elbow joints in the lines going up instead of sideways. We'll never now why. 3)he put the sprinklers in along the tree line with the intent for them to water the Island (raised area on the left of the pic) and the sprinklers in the island to water the tree line. 4)the pipes for the septic drainfield run under there, he hit one of them with the ditchwitch and didn't tell anyone - I just discovered this when uncovering parts of the lines so that rotatilling could be done. And that finally solved the quandry of why that part of the yard was always soggy. That pipe hasn't been functional for almost 8 years now. So.... all of that leads to this picture! there was grass there until just a couple of days ago. Initially the project was just to get rid of the grass, raise, and make rock garden with some planters. Now it's: get rid of grass, find and fix all sprinkler pipes that had small cracks due to being too close to the surface, wait for the area to drain some so we can fix the broken septic pipe, fix that pipe, and rearrange the sprinkler system so that it's not sooo close to the surface. Then we can proceed with the rock garden and planters. Pixie... your burn pile puts my little one to shame! lol. but, I would kill most anything there with a bonfire the size of yours!
