Pelle, I took down my big feeder today as well, because of the grackles. I was tired of being on the watch for them. I left the one with the cage over the plate for the smaller bird. But it's raining right now, and the water accumulates in it. Even with the holes I drill in it. So set a piece of the wired cage I had left, under it so it will drain.
TheGrackles even learn how to get seeds from these feeders. They jump on the perch and fly of, a few seeds drop out, from under the feeder, when it bounces from their jump. Suppose to be big birds and squirrel proof. Ha!
