When I lived in New Mexico I had a large rose garden with about fifty named varieties and disease wasn't much of a problem. I had to build a sun screen for them and run off the occasional gopher but for the most part they did well. With the humidity here it is a different ball game and I haven't really tried some of the hybrid teas and heirlooms I had there. The photo is from some years ago but shows the rose garden after its first year. Still small at this stage but I think you can see a David Austin yellow rose in the corner.
