I'm really excited because I just counted 5 garter snakes in my backyard. yipee!

I saw a snake get carried away in late winter/early spring so I was concerned I only had one or two left. And a bunch of voles moved into my wildlife garden out back (with all tunnels leading to bird feeders, go figure). So I was concerned that they'd get out of control. Well, now I'm not so concerned!!

I'm also excited because I wanted my backyard to be wildlife friendly, and it is actually turning out that way. I guess not mowing in the way back, and mowing high plus not using chemicals is really paying off. So happy about that :)

Here's snakes 2 & 3 on the back of the waterfall. The stones are dry stacked so after a while they headed in there to hide (chipmunks also like to go in there...hopefully not at the same time as the snakes!).
