Morning Glories: How do I germinate this seed from 1962?, 1 by Rareseedman

This seed arrived from my mum in Canada this morning together with some 4' O Clock Seed.

3 weeks ago she sent me a packet of pea seed from 1968 and 6 of the 28 seeds germinated, even though they were a tan colour. They were labelled as 'purple pod'

I got nil germination from Iceland Poppy. there was something called Bells of Ireland, so far 4 seeds germinated and 6 of 8 seeds (out of 42 of a ipomoea tricolor unknown in brown envelope tan seeds, the others went to mush.

They were kept in a jam jar under the kitchen sink, my mum found them when she cleaned up after my dad died in December, she came across this loose sealed packet of MG in a jar with some loose corn seed, I don't know if they were meant to keep the seed dry because they were in the other jar as well.

I am rather scared to germinate the seed in case I ruin them, how shall I germinate them and should I pass them to a more experienced grower?
