angel_tree_baby - I usually have lotus bloom from tubers the first year. Seed the second year holds true for me. Dinu has a thread going in this forum on growing lotus from seed.

If you start a seed, it may or may not look like the parent plant. A lotus tuber should look exactly like the parent plant.

Back to the fertilizer tabs. They make a lot of bloom production difference from my experience. You poke them in the pot and cover the hole up with soil. In a big pot I will usually put four sometimes 5 tabs around the outside edge . I aim to fertilize every month during the main growing season. I don't feed in September. I start feeding the end of April or the first of May. As the lotus matures you'll be able to feel the lotus tubers with your finger when you fertilize. I ususally divide a pot every 3 to 5 years.
