Never seen a Roman Hyacinth so I don't know if vendors are correct when they say Festival Hyacinths are "reminiscent of the old Roman Hyacinths" but they are right when they say they are "wonderfully fragrant". One 3" stem perfumes a room. Planted them next to Hyacinthus orientalis and the Festivals are a week to two weeks earlier than the orientalis.
