I just moved into this house last summer, and the previous owner for some reason hated clematis so I've planted two of them so far, multi-blue and Jan Fopma. Multi blue is a group 2, and had 3 or 4 flowers. Jan Fopma is a cultivar, pruning group 3, and it had two lovely little flowers. I protected them for the winter but who knows if they'll come back this spring. Here's little Jan Fopma's first flower. Once it opens wider, the flower's about 2" wide. If they do come back, I just can't wait for the show they'll put on.

In my previous house I had a Comtesse de Bouchaud, a Sweet Autumn Clematis and a Polish Spirit - only three because it was a townhouse and I wasn't really supposed to plant anything.

I get emails from a local clematis expert who's having clematis sales this spring and I just can't wait to cover my fences here.
