I have read that once the leaf forms the bulb is depleted and smaller. I have never dug one at this stage to know. They say that the leaf with photosynthesis then regrows the bulb back during the summer into an even bigger bulb by fall. So no, they don't die after they flower. They just smell like something has died while in flower! :) Karen |
