My koi are still at our other house in the pond and luckily I have no problems with them other than tossing a few rocks out of the pots and a few nibbles now and then but I know of a lady who purchases the wire hanging baskets and turns them upside down over the rhizomes to keep the koi out so you might want to try something like that.

Here's a pix of our mudpond but as I said we still have things that we want to do with it. It had american pond weed but we pulled and sprayed and I think we have it under control now. * I normally do not like to use chemicals but was forced to in this situation*
