What's that saying about March coming in like a lion and going out like lamb? Let's hope so! My frustration today has been all the clouds of Black Birds invading my feeders--which hang under my patio roof and are not visible from "as the birds fly..."---but I guess they have learned, over the years where the goodies are. I have one of those 3-tube feeders that hold a lot of seed. I had just spent over $26 on bird seed and filled them all, and also a regular feeder (like a little house) with mixed seed. Well--ALL day long, I have been banging on my LR windows to scare off the Black Birds so some of the little ones can have their share. BUT--How long can I stand there banging on my windows? As soon as I scare the Black ones away--the smaller birds just converge on the feeders. Then, one of the rauceous biggies comes back--and all the little birds scatter and sit in the bushes and wait! I bang on the windows--the bad guys fly off--and the little ones come back------and so on--for hours today! Finally, I gave up! These guys emptied all the tubes in the feeder (probably about 6lbs of seed) and the other bird-feeder as well. Then they just about devoured my 2 suet cakes and finally left as the dusk was coming. I HATE IT! I HATE IT!......The Black Birds are such "pigs"! Here's a pic. of the little ones fighting over space for some seeds in the few minutes they have before "they" converge again..... These pictures were taken through my dirty LR window.... |
