A quick visit to walmart to buy a cube storage set and a $10.00 feeder, a little plexiglass for the roof, and we have a blue jay proof feeder. The chickadee and sparrows seem to like it but the starlings, blue jays etc can't get in. We hope the finches will use it when they return. The base has window screen in it to keep the spilled seed from falling through the cube mesh.
The commercial feeders with wire cages seemed to cost $90.00 or so while this cost about $35.00 Canadian and we still have cube sides left over to build another two feeders.
