The pack will just send in one to distract the donkey, then the pack goes for the dinner. We live in the piney woods of east Texas and there are packs everywhere. I breed peafowl and use chickens to hatch the peafowl eggs and the chickens free range. We have the Great Pyrenees and I never loose anything to coyotes, just to drop off dogs. I have lost close to $6,000. in birds to dogs that have been dropped off in front of our home. We have had problems getting a male dog to make it to adult hood. Now that Beorn has made it to full size, we now have no problems with stray dogs. We have dairys all around us and our neighbors just love our dogs. No one has lost a calf to coyotes in years. We have no children at the house so guns are always loaded but never need them. These dogs just live to run down coyotes. Pups as young a four months will run with the big dogs when the sun goes down and the chase is on. Can you see a coyote standing up to this guy. |
