Funny, too because he almost seemed like a runt in size compared to the hens as a chick.......I have another rooster that does the wing down dance and such.......he's also had some ups and downs, like being attacked by opossums - very mean now, and who could blame him? Anyway, I know this thread is about breeds, but my Ameracauna and I have a great bond. Yes, he loves the girls well, but he also does his job. He looks tall into the feeder when I walk in the coop because he knows that's where new feed comes from, and then he clucks and shows the girls where to get the food. He used to be a ball of fluff in my palm, and now I pick him up every day and tell him how gorgeous he is! I must have a Maran. Even before this thread I wanted those dark brown eggs! Also, I only have one, but New Jersey Giants seem to be very very sweet. |
