Well... thanks for your lovely complements. yes.. the foam planters are a good project.. you csn get as elaborate as there is time for them.. you're in an elevated area there.. one of my favorite parts of the east there.. I've made the trip down US 11 then 81.. every year or two.. all my life to visit relatves in the south from the north east..
Yes.. the roses overwnter rght where they grow.. they are in mostly 2 x 12 troughs not very deep 11" or wide.11".. but long.. 22' ...my New Dawn rose is in a larger one also made of treated 2 x 12's . maybe 48" X 36" X 16 " deep. they have been there for a decade or two.. so they predate my foam planters.. the bigger they are.. the easier time they will have of it... for sure.. best of luck with them...
OH.. one of the roses is indeed in a foam planter .. Alpine Sunset it's the one at about 6 o'clock in the picture here...
you're cool there... you ought to give the brugmansias a try... the angel trumpets..about 2 o'clock in this photo also.. they like to grow a bit cool... but need to be insde for the winter... there... Gordon
