Lingernot refused to approach these three. They were having a lively visit and he did not want to intrude on their fun. Also, they are Italian and he could not understand a word they were saying. They never even noticed him. These gnomes sort of keep to themselves. Their home is on the outskirts of the village and, while friendly as can be and hard workers, they really have different habits and different ways of doing things. I believe their ancestors were cave dwellers and this explains their extremely white skin. Through sign language they have told me they moved to the Pacific Northwest because they heard that we never get enough sun to matter. Their skin would be safe here. So far, that has been true. Their home is under a huge big leaf maple tree so even in the summertime, they are in the shade. I assigned them to the garden underneath that tree so they never have to work in the sun. They are very musical and on a quiet day you can hear them singing while they work.
