I agree, Allison, birch is a very messy tree. But come to think of it, how many trees are not? Evergreens drop needles, and the deciduous trees drop their leaves. Pines drop what my friend Karen calls 'rice crispies' in the early summer, when their blooming. All trees drop some kind of blossoms. Then there are those that drop seed pods, and so many drop petals when finished blooming. Maples drop whirligig seeds. I could go on.

I love trees, regardless of how messy or not messy they are. I often tell my friend Karen that I love the eastern white pines we have around here, and she doesn't like them. I think they are very stately, but I don't like them too close to a house. I don't like anything that tall too close to a house.

Pixie, I love the colors and wish it would last longer, too. I don't have enough time to go out and take all the pics I want to take. Would have to sacrifice gardening time to do that, and I just have so much to get done, especially for planting stuff. My friend Karen kept saying this past weekend that it's a shame it doesn't last longer. I pointed out that since it lasts such a short time, then we appreciate it all the more.

I loved everyone's pics. I think my favorite shot of them all would have to be yours, Victor, of the brilliant orange foliage on that one tree. That is really glowing!

Well, I have finally taken some fall pics this past weekend after going to Candyce's RU. Had a great time. Here are some of my pics.

My Dad with foliage in front of the pond at the motel where we stayed in Keene, NH. It was the Coach House Motel and Cabins. Not a great place. I don't recommend it if you want to be comfortable, though the owners were nice enough.
