Some plants, like grasses, just fall over when it rains and since I have some of them on the front sidewalk strip I can't allow them to block the walkway. I've found the 3' tall cheap wire fencing in the light brown color (available in 10' lengths at the big box stores) can be used to almost invisibly encircle clumps of grasses and large plants like Baptisia that tend to flop in late summer. Here's a picture of the fencing visible in the shade garden. I'm using it here to prevent one of my dogs from digging or running through that garden. Surrounding the larger plants it is not even visible. |
