We went on a little road trip Sunday to the north georgia mountains. We hadn't planned to go to the big J&J flea market but i Know they have chickens and all sorts of cool stuff.
We got there and i'm a bird cage fanatic use them to sell my Doves and right at the first yard sale table was a big one got it for $5. I immediatly knew i was going to buy a chicken at some point and i could hear them crowing in the distance. I restrained myself carrying my cage and bought some antiques and my husband got a good deal on a camping stove it sells for $179 retail he got it for $25 enough of that.
I got to the end of the first 4 long rows of tables and thought somebody could buy the chicken that i wanted before i got to it. So off i went and had to walk past at least 20 tables wondering what i missed but i had to follow the little crows. First chickens disapointed me(I have pics of these)It was old sick and pitiful birds mostly fighting game some were missing eyes i asked for permission to take pics and this very smelly guy with 2 teeth and tobacoo running down his chin said sure. He was impressed to know i wanted to take pictures of his birds as he wiped the tobacco on his sleeve. The next table was better all little bantys all perky and crowing i could tell some were mixed and there was a pair of mottled japanese and 2 little buff hens and some white pairs and a couple pairs of frizzles but on the end there he was a perfect buff black tail roo. The young man who had them said he had just started with bantys and he had to many so he was selling some he said i could take them out and look him over. No odor, clean feathers , no mites, clean feet, firm poo, and he was really pecking me.
So i bought him and carried him around with me people kept asking me about him and some wanted to buy him.
We stayed there about 3 or 4 hours then headed to what i call heaven our favorite place to camp 2.5 miles up a mountain dirt road it's primitive No water ,electricity, or any convience but a port o john type toilet just you a trout stream and a few bears ,skunks, coons and snakes. You go to sleep listening to nothing but the creek flowing and the critters.
We haven't been camping in 6 years but we going back! Yes the roo had the distinction of being the first chicken on top of that mountain he drank fresh clean creek water and ate pure mountain grass.

Sorry this was so long the pics are coming
