Here's a picture ZZ you can see the stake taped to the container and that is the clamp on light with 100 watt bulb and i use paper towels because i don't like shaveing mine always ate them on they stuck to their feet. The towels just fold up for cleaning not like the shaveing you have to dump them.

Now if you are refering to older birds my chicks are removed from their light when they are fully feathered and about 8 weeks old or longer depends on the weather and are never under a light from that point on i don't use lights on my adult birds.

I might add they are only in the container 2 weeks and then are moved to one of those wire bottom rabbit cages its i believe 36"x 36" and it's in my shed on a stand i built it i temporarly put down a piece of plywood for their little feet until their feet don't go threw the wire it has wind break cloth on 3 sides with a stake zip tied to one side like the other one and a 100 watt bulb. You can cover it as much as you want i use wind break cloth and cover it or uncover it according to the weather.
