Yes, I am Native American. Ojibwa (Chippewa) From Lac du Flambeau WI. Actually i was born and raised in IL. My family lives in and around the Rez. So, We chose the WI house because it is exactly half way. This way my family can come and visit.

Debra, I learned to embroider very young. Then I learned to sew in HS, home ec.
Didn't do either one for years and then I was invited to a baby shower and didn't have a whole lot of money so i decided to create my own blanket for a gift...I used to watch the Quilting and sewing shows...So much of my stuff is this and that all incorporated together...The Fairy flag was created because I am not an artist so I couldn't paint her, then I was going to try and make her with clay and then paint, however I quickly learned I am no potter either. So went back to what I do know Material beads and embroidery. She will be sort of a 2d...I have a fairy book that I fell in love with...Teaches you how to paint, hahha, showed it to Betty when she came and she told me it was for advanced artists...So I took the same instruction for painting and applied them with the material...For her dress i used a Barbie as a model, Her wings I tried to cheat and use a copy but my dd,who is an artist told me I have to do it free hand so I drew the wings to size and created each part of pieces from a clear plastic template.(learned that trick from Quilting shows).
I do enjoy embroidery, It’s all done by hand and for me something to do and helps to relieve anxiety. Here is one many baby blankets, this particular one was for my niece.
