But I did notice they will swarm on each other on the ground and "attack". I'm not sure if this is a mating game or they are really ticked.

Anyway, they are about 3/4 " long with shiney black/blue wings. Their bodies are hornet-like with the main body being orange and they have a yellow stripe across their "waist".

Are they friend or foe?
