I am hoping to have some named daylilies that can be divided this fall as well. They have been in pots with afternoon shade since we had a well drilled last fall.

I "witched" for water myself, and right in the middle of the daylily bed was the only spot on the whole 1.5 acres that the rods really reacted. Here's what happened to one of my big iris beds. DH told me there might be a little pile of sand when the drilling was finished. Fine, I could use some sand. He did not know about all the water now used in well drilling. It created a huge mudslide probably 30' X 60' and 8-12" thick. The drillers diverted the mess from the backyard, not knowing that the iris bed was in the path of the mud as it was grown up in grass. It's incredible that any iris could survive, especially when the mess hardened like cement, but I have rescued some after they managed to get a leaf through and wave for help. I have a lot of reconstructing to do when it cools off a little, but we do have a very good well.
