This is Great Grandma's (and Grandma's and mom's) modest home in Trumansburg, NY (you know, the "house at the top of the hill") sometime around 1900, I am guessing. I have many fond memories of summers well-spent there growing up. It is now the village offices and police station, and thankfully so, as I don't know how I would be able to keep up such a treasure. I believe "Granny" was the village's "first" librarian. I remember this house hidden by a row of HUGE hemlocks across the front of the porch, but, here it is, bare, exposing her impressive porch detail. You might even catch a glimpse of one of Great Grandpa's livery fleet in the lower right. How's that for dated! I should drive by and snap a couple of shots of this beauty as she looks today. I really miss "This Old House." And yes, as a kid we were scared $*&+less of that old "haunted" house, most exciting!! Don't get me started on the Creepy Portraits or the "Old Root Cellar" or the Barn's Loft. Brrrrrrrrrrr. All those strange sounds ...... I think I see something in the upstairs window ..... :-) |
