For many years the Jays would come for handouts, except during the breeding season, and the coldest part of the winter. Back then I believed they stayed in the thick brush along the creek, during those periods of time. However, I have been puzzled as to why they don't come regularly during the spring, and a much shorter time in the late summer, in recent years. I'm sure they are in the neighborhood during the spring, because they have come to the feeder, on rare occasions.
