The oil tank looks like this. It's in my basement close to, but not too close to the boiler. It takes about 275 gallons of what looks and smells like crude oil, but I don't know what it is. They just call it heating oil.

I'd love to see a photo of your rental tile counter. Thanks for the advice on the dark colors... now I wonder what I'll do for the counter surface... Any ideas?
