I don't have much in the way of MGs blooming right now. But even though the Kohkan vine is about done, it's still blooming quite a bit. Small leaves, big blooms! I put 2 different blooms together in one picture so to conserve posting space. These were taken this morning.

I do have a question though ... My Kohkan is showing striped variations (is that what you would call it?) on the petals. Is that characteristic of a true Kohkan or could it be a cross? The color seems to be right, unless Kohkan is supposed to be deep red. This is more of a magenta color. Looking at http://davesgarden.com/guides/pf/go/133781/, it seems to match the color of half of the pics. Joseph's photo blooms look more red. I'd like to know more about this cultivar. It is my favorite of any MG I have grown so far. And I do like the variation in blooms. It makes them more unpredictable and interesting to me personally. I think that is why I like the crosses so much, I love unpredictable things! (That must come from my job, because I never used to be that way!)
