In the absense of natural cavities that would be left in dead trees from "last years larger cavity nesters," I have to guess that this just looked safe and this particular male really likes the appearance of privacy and 'safety" of the site. I do consider myself most fortunate to have one nesting practically in my "hip pocket" and recognize the rarity of such an oportunity! |
