Gem, the purple one in my photo is supposed to be Glandularia canadensis. Supposedly it is hardier than the cultivar of it - Homestead Purple. I had Homestead purple once and it didn't overwinter. However it was a rough winter for most plants that year and it was planted very late in summer, because I got it on clearance. So I wanted to try out the straight species planted in spring, to see if it will overwinter. I'm keeping my fingers crossed. I can't beleive how fast the V. bonariensis grows! The ones I planted are starting to get flowers, not enough for a photo or for butterflies to notice but still, I am so happy!

Here is a collage of flowers I have blooming this morning.
