f_chisolm, have you noticed the male House Sparrow feeds the female young, while mom feeds the males? Mine have had two lots now and I always see the male with females, must be a social thing.

I got a pic of the female with a mouthful of insects, she must be on the third lot! I couldn't work out what the bright orange thing was, must be an Rose Sawfly as I have seen one laying eggs on my rose, but I let it, lol. Looks like an Asian Ladybird larvae too, they got to me last year first time. It's the sparrows which eat all the greenfly, I used to have loads of them but never saw many Ladybirds/bugs. They all get eaten now in short time.
