I fertilize - but I use the year long spikes and put them in the pots in April when I am dividing up my waterlilies. I have tried the monthly pond tabs and found if I use them, that that is another 'activity' that seems to go by the wayside. Too many other things going on in the warmer months - so for me, it' just easier to do it early on.
