I made a stink last week when the tree contractor for Centerpoint Energy came to cut the trees. They claim that they have to prune year round, but I didn't see any pruning happening in the winter months when it would be approrpriate for the trees and the birds. I also received plenty of flyers from tree trimmers looking for work in the winter. I say contract with more companies and do it in the winter! They 'trimmed' which often meant topping trees for several blocks. I can't imagine how many baby birds were killed.

Here's a baby blue jay in the bamboo in the easement. The bamboo is dying from lack of rain.
