Kassia wrote: Donna, someone on the other thread said you buy a$10.00 rose and dig a $40.00 hole... I have experienced that... so I try to get a good hole but since my soil has tons of rocks I do raised beds so it gets me a chance to really mix things... I usually do 1 cup of blood meal, one of bone meal and one of epson salts... them tons of water for the next 2-3 weeks and them I give them alfalfa about 6 weeks later... right now I have tons of alfalfa brewing ... so you give them a good start... I like planting own roots ... they are smaller and easier to handle... but the grafted ones are so much bigger... So my dear Onewish, sorry I am far or I would go there and help you!!!! which roses are you planting??? I have 2 threads on the rose forum almost a pic of every rose I have... if they bloomed they are there! This is the newest - its actually a test rose for Jackson and Perkins - I got all 4 and 2 are doing really well, tons of blooms, one is doing fair, and one is bad... don't have much growth... they have not contacted me yet... so I don't know what to do... I may just name it after myself! what a big head I have!!!! |
