I had a Great Tit today bringing a young one to feed. The female is very pale, she appeared briefly for a feed after the male had fed baby. I googled to see if I could find one so lacking in colour, found an article on Blue Tits and other Tits last year which was very wet and cold. If it's too cold and wet we don't get the moths, then don't get caterpillars which they need to feed the young. One young Blue Tit needs 100 caterpillars a day! They can have 10 in a brood, but only breed once a year.

This is the pale female Great Tit, a female has a thinner black line down the front than the male but this one is lacking in colour all over.
