LOL it's not a spider, but a Wheel Bug Nymph, belonging to the True Bug family, it's an assassin bug. It will grow to about 1 to 1 1/2 inches long and they eat all of the bad guys on the plant! They won't eat good guys though, here's a picture of a Daddy Long Legs spider and a different Wheel Bug, they're not trying to eat each other! The Wheel Bugs are more poisonous that that spider, but the spider moves A Lot faster. I have 3 Wheel Bugs now, and that the sunflowers are big they walk from plant to plant eating everything in their path. When they get to adult size they'll have wings and they will fly, then breed, then lay eggs, then die in the fall. I started out having a bad leafhopper problem, now I have just a small leafhopper problem. They move pretty slow, but it's really cool watching them attack another bug. They see Very well, too, they follow me around when I'm walking next to the plants.
