Bird Watching: Baby hummers outside my garage door, 1 by WormsLovSharon

Well it is another hot day in the desert. Late yesterday one of the hummer babies left the nest. I was thrilled for it. Well this morning the nest again had two occupants. I started in the garden at 5:30am and sat down on the back patio around 10am. I usually do not sit outside that time of day but I was hot, tired and just wanted a cold drink of water. To my delight I had two dancing orange dragon flies dipping into the Koi pond. I think they are laying eggs in the pond. Then out of no where came an adult Hummingbird that landed on one of the large flat rocks of the waterfall that flows into the Koi pond. The waterfall is necessary to keep the water cool and place oxygen into the water. The hummingbird rolled under the small trickle and then flew off. She did this three times. I finally got up and got my camera but of course she would not go near the pond as long as I had the camera. I did take a picture of the dragonfly resting on the jasmine branch on the right side of the waterfall. I doubt you can see it because it is the same color as the rock. Have a great evening.
